We offer excellent turkey hunting opportunities at Illinois Whitetail and Waterfowl.

Our season begins in the last week of March with the youth season followed by the regular seasons. The Illinois turkey season is broken down into five seven-day seasons. Turkey pemits are available to nonresident hunters during the 2nd and 3rd lotteries, with the 1st lottery open for Illinois residents only.

The permits are season and county specific. With our hunting areas lying in White, Wayne and Hamilton counties, you are likely to draw a permit. You will need to visit the Illinois DNR website for lottery dates (typically January and February) and season dates.

In Illinois, the legal hunting time for turkey ends at 1:00 pm. The balance of the day is used for scouting for the next day’s hunt if needed or if you prefer, simply relaxing.

Sometimes turkey hunting is like magic and responsive gobblers come in on a string. That’s exactly what happened with this bird. After seeing him head off in the other direction with a hen, I went in after him 2 hours later, set up and called - no response. Started to head back and called one last time, sure enough he responded deep in the woods. Set up again and got him to work his way right to me! 🦃

This picture may seem insignificant to most, However, having a dog that will stay in its place is a huge deal. Whike I cleaned up the garage and organized the hunting equipment from this season, Bella, stayed on place for over an hour while I was in and out of the house and neighbors walked there dogs.. This is her first day at home in NC. To have this much steadiness in a new place with distractions around her is so amazing to me. Many thanks to @dogbonehunter for all the hard work he put in in creating such a steady dog.
